Provide opportunities for relaxation, adventure, and competition
Our Values:
1) Conviviality
2) Integrity
3) The combined efforts of a group
4) The spirit of the family – ‘Ohana
5) The taste of adventure
6) Welcoming all
7) The respect and involvement of all
1) Conviviality
Going beyond the competitive aspects of practicing a sport, we wish to add a social dimension.
We are here to enable encounters, to have fun, and explore.
2) Integrity
The club shall be ruled transparently.
Every major decision shall be voted upon in a democratic manner.
The selection criteria shall be determined in advance and purely based on merit. Everyone can join. There shall be no favoritism.
3) The combined efforts of a group Va’a requires a collective effort.
Even if every individual bears responsibility for his own efforts, teamwork requires a transcendence of will.
We aim to be as competitive as possible.
4) The spirit of the family – ‘Ohana
The club runs according to the principle of Ohana: every new member is warmly welcomed by the community, the beginners and advanced alike.
Every member must support his teammates both on the water and on the beach. This applies to participation in and aiding at events organized by the club.
5) The taste of adventure
Historically va’a enabled the ancient Polynesians to discover and explore the islands of the pacific.
The club wishes to tap into this spirit in organizing adventure expeditions.
6) Welcoming all
The club is open to anyone from the age of 16 without any criteria for nationality, race, religion, gender or origin.
The big and small, the good, the bad, and the ugly, the beginners and the advanced alike are all welcome (conditional upon being able to practice the sport).
7) The respect and involvement of all
Every member must demonstrate to the club their respect:
– to teammates, members of other clubs, the sport, and the boat
– towards the sea and nature
– for their coach and captains
– to participate on the beach (aiding in helping to get the boat out and to tidy it away) – vis a vis their engagement (registering for a session means participating therein)
Every member must act as an example of the club; beginners and the advanced alike. Every member represents and answers to the club, regardless of their level.
